89(+?) Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - July/August 2010

(14% alcohol) Bright dark red. Vibrant, pungent aromas of red berries, minerals and smoky underbrush, plus a somewhat intrusive note of shoe polish. Bright and juicy in the mouth, with smoky red berry, dark plum and licorice flavors. Finishes with youthfully chewy tannins and good length. This will likely evolve and improve with a couple more years in the bottle, but today it lacks the complexity or the sheer in-your-face fruity appeal of the 2008 Chianti to warrant a higher score.
