Inky ruby. Powerfully scented and ripe, displaying cassis, cherry compote and singed plum aromas, with notes of mocha and vanilla coming up with air. Broad and smoky in the mouth, with sweet dark fruit and spice flavors and a licorice pastille quality. Finishes smooth and punchy, with the ripe dark fruit notes repeating. No way that I'd have guessed this wine was from a difficult vintage.
