($48) Deep ruby. Brooding aromas of cherry and dark berry skin, with a strong wallop of cracked pepper and brown spices adding complexity. Syrah-like in its intensity and spiciness, offering deep blackberry and cassis flavors and a weighty, chewy texture. The broad, gently sweet finish leaves a strong peppery note behind. Put this one away for at least five years, then serve it with grilled lamb.
