($65; 100% garnacha) Saturated ruby. Heady aromas of red and dark berries, dried flowers, five-spice powder, minerals and incense: you could scent a room with this stuff. Deep and weighty but shockingly lithe and precise, offering sweet raspberry and blackberry flavors, with silky tannins adding grip and zesty minerality providing spine. Pinot-like in its precision but this packs serious punch and finishes with excellent breadth and a lingering note of candied flowers. (Eric Solomon Selections, Charlotte, NC)
