More About This Wine
About Au Bon Climat
Since it was founded in 1982, Au Bon Climat has been a well respected producer of Burgundian-styled California wines. Jim Clendenen's Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs are mineral, focused and restrained in the early going, and sometimes quite oaky.
2007 Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir La Bauge Au-Dessus Santa Maria Valley (half bottle)
Producer: Au Bon Climat
Style: Red Wine
Grape Type: Pinot Noir
Origin: California
Region: Central Coast
Appellation: Santa Barbara
90 Points | International Wine Cellar , November/December 2009
($35) Light, bright red. Spicy red berries and cherry on the nose, with hints of underbrush and dried flowers adding complexity. Musky, tightly wound black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors are framed by dusty tannins and given spine by tangy minerality. Sweeter on the finish, which leaves candied cherry and rose notes behind. I really like this wine's nervy character.
