93 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - March/April 2009

($35) Pale, bright yellow. Sexy, complex nose combines peach, lemon drop, smoky oak, hazelnut and leesy traces. Densely packed and tactile, with lovely minerality to the chewy, savory, dry flavors of yellow peach and spices. This concentrated and uncompromising chardonnay is about much more than simply fruit. Finishes broad but weightless, with serious structure and considerable finesse. Needs a year or two to loosen up a bit. One of South Africa's elite chardonnays-and a superb vintage for this bottling.
