($38) Inky ruby. Ripe, spicy blackberry and boysenberry aromas are complicated by notes of licorice, cola and musky flowers. Broad and velvety, with deep black and blue fruit and candied violet flavors and slow-building tannins. Very attractive syrah with good depth and surprising vivacity on the long, focused finish. This was fermented with 25% whole clusters.

Better than ever!
by Fannin10580945
It has been nearly a year and a half since I had the first one of these. As good as it was at that time, it is better now, offering more complexity on the nose and including most of the components mentioned in the Parker review. It is even richer, fuller, rounder and more plush on the palate and has a longer, smoother finish. Just magnificent and well worth five stars.
This was amazing!

I absolutely LOVED this wine. It had substance and amazing drinkability. I wish I ordered more than 4 bottles...
Wonderful Syrah
by Cleveland13515826
I am not a huge Syrah fan. Too many of them have overly bold fruit with little finesse and not much of a nose. But I thought this was a really terrific wine with an extraordinarily sophisticated bouquet and very subtle flavors. Best Syrah I have had to date.

About California

It is remarkable that an industry essentially less than a half-century old could capture the attention of the American wine-buying public to the degree that California has. Powerful consumer interest in California wine is driven by two major factors. The more obvious reason is that California's best wines, which come from grapes grown in...

Varietal Image

While the grape is currently grown throughout the world, the most elegant Syrahs still come from the Northern Rhone valley, particularly the appellations of Côte Rôtie, Cornas, and Hermitage. Here, steep, terraced vineyards help produce full-bodied, intense, tannic wines loaded with white pepper and red fruit. In the vineyard, Syrah is largely cooperative- vines are productive, but not overly vigorous. Skins are thick, helping the grape...
