($144; for a magnum; 66% touriga nacional and 34% syrah) Inky purple. Explosively perfumed bouquet of boysenberry, blueberry compote, cured tobacco, iodine, violet and cola, plus a suave spicy note gaining strength with air. Deeply concentrated in flavor but surprisingly fresh, even graceful, offering zesty dark berry and spice flavors and a firm mineral spine. The finish features alluring floral and spice character and hangs on with impressive tenacity. This wine's freshness came as a shock considering its power. Seems as successful as the excellent 2006.
