About Araujo Estate

Since 1990, Bart and Daphne Araujo have carried on the tradition of making monster Cabernets from the Eisele Vineyard, adding Syrah into the mix as well. Their flagship bottling is dense, powerful and rich, typically with soil-inflected notes of plum, mocha, tobacco and smoke, and very suave tannins.

($95; like the flagship wine, this was also bottled in February of 2010) Good ruby-red. Redcurrant, minerals and spices on the lively nose. Juicy and nicely delineated, with good lift and mineral grip to the currant, graphite and tobacco flavors. Very firmly built and persistent wine with a light gamey quality adding interest.
