About Laurel Glen Vineyard
The precious 3-acre parcel that gave birth to Laurel Glen Vineyard was first planted by German immigrants back in 1880. But it was Patrick Campbell who rediscovered the plot in 1974 and set to work expanding the vineyard to its current size of 16 acres.

($60) Glass-staining ruby. Pungent, assertively spicy scents of red- and blackcurrant, licorice, pipe tobacco and cocoa powder, plus a sexy floral quality. Broad and pliant but focused, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors, a candied cherry note and an exotic rose pastille nuance. There's a spine of minerality here that keeps the sweet fruit and floral flavors in check and adds lift and cut to the long, spicy finish. Very young but has the depth and balance to reward at least a decade of patience. (JR)
