Saturated bright ruby.  Cassis, black plum, licorice, dark chocolate and wild herbs on the nose.  Dense, juicy and tightly wound, with slightly medicinal berry flavors, a sappy herbal element and a whiff of woodsmoke.  Not at all a sweet style but finishes surprisingly pliant, with broad, fine tannins and attractive herbal perfume.  I'd give this another couple years in the cellar.
