($42) Glass-staining purple. Exotically perfumed bouquet of red and dark berries, potpourri, olive and licorice; smells like a very serious northern Rhone wine. Succulent dark berry flavors are complemented by a strong black olive quality and notes of fresh herbs and candied violet. Silky tannins add shape but don't detract from the fruit. Balances deep, sweet berry fruit against tangy minerals on the very long, focused finish. This is easily the most impressive wine I've ever had from this consistent producer.
