($60) Vivid gold. Seductive, intensely perfumed aromas of pear, passion fruit and pineapple, with smoky lees and truffle adding complexity. Then rich, penetrating and sweet on the palate, with exotic fruit character and mounting spiciness. An impressive, mouthcoating wine with intriguing smoky, floral and mineral suggestions on the persistent finish. These grapes were sourced from the Charles Heintz vineyard, which Smith says "always gives opulent fruit."
