($113) Saturated, bright black ruby. Tight, vibrant nose hints at blackberry, licorice, gingerbread and violet. Thick but fresh on entry, then dense and sweet in the middle, with captivating spicy lift giving the middle palate an almost airy impression. Impeccably balanced wine with noteworthy depth of flavor and plenty of grapey power. Finishes very long, with broad, fine, toothdusting tannins. This will need time to display its inherent complexity. (Broadbent Selections, San Francisco CA
