($45) Glass-staining purple. Exotically perfumed bouquet of raspberry, blueberry, violet, cracked pepper and olive, plus a slow-building cola quality. Intense dark berry flavors stain the palate, yet this wine possesses a pinot-like delicacy and precision, with lively mineral and Asian spice qualities adding energy and back-end lift. The cola note repeats on the tangy, focused, very long finish. This wine has the balance to reward a few more years in the cellar but is delicious right now, so why wait?
