($30; other than the Subduction Red, Syncline's 2007 reds are bottled with a glass stopper and a capsule) Medium red-ruby. Blackberry, violet, clove and fruity pepper on the nose, plus a candied suggestion of spun sugar. The peppery element perks up the wine's black fruit flavors and lifts the finish, giving energy to this pure, lively wine. Not quite complex enough for an outstanding rating, but this is juicy, fresh and nicely balanced.
