($50) Bright red. Fresh red fruit preserves, flowers and spices on the nose, with notes of sassafras and anise coming up with air. Palate-staining raspberry and cherry flavors are complicated by white pepper and succulent herbs, with dusty tannins adding support. Sweeter, deeper dark berry qualities appear on the finish, which is well-focused and impressively persistent. Give this one a few more years of bottle aging or an hour in a decanter.
