90 Points | International Wine Cellar , November/December 2009

($32) Deep ruby-red. Superripe aromas of black raspberry, blackberry, licorice and bitter chocolate; began with a porty aspect but seemed to grow fresher in the glass. Fat on entry, then stuffed with fruit, with strong acidity giving it shape and energy. A very sweet, rich barbera that finishes with broad, dusty tannins. According to new cellarmaster Gianmatteo Raineri, this wine shows less body than the 2006 version. The grapes had high sugars, and the team may have picked early, he went on-hence the impression of high acidity.
