($176; raised in 200% new French oak for 18 months) Inky purple. A drop-dead, seductive bouquet exudes raspberry, cherry liqueur, potpourri and vanillin oak spice, with a strong mineral undercurrent. Dense and tightly wound, offering broad dark fruit flavors that show a porty element but betray no heat. Shows a decadent character while retaining vivacity, finishing with outstanding length and lingering notes of cassis and licorice. This really deserves some patience. The vines were reportedly planted in 1926.
