90(+?) Points | International Wine Cellar , September/October 2010

($97; 15% alcohol) Deep purple- ruby. Roasted, liqueur-like nose displays the warmth of the vintage: ripe red cherry, dark plum, cocoa and tar. Massive, broad and very ripe but less delineated and taut than the Nardo; the intense flavors of ripe dark plum, smoky herbs, chocolate and pepper could use a bit more life and lift. Though this huge wine starts off impressively, it finishes only moderately long, with smooth tannins and considerable alcoholic warmth. Still an infant, so it ought to improve with a couple more years of bottle age, but this will appeal most to those who like high-octane wines with plenty of punch. (Polaner Selections, Mt. Kisco NY)

About Italy
