($40) Ruby-red. Complex, spicy bouquet evokes dark berries, cherry and rose, with notes of mocha and vanilla in the background. The vanilla quality repeats on the palate, which offers sweet, vaguely candied cherry and blackberry flavors and a zesty mineral spine. Dusty tannins add shape to the sweet fruit on the long, sappy finish. I'd give this a bit of age to allow the oak element to recede into the fruit. (Folio Fine Wine Partners, Napa CA)
