($35; a southern French blend based on 70% grenache) Medium red. Liqueur-like red fruits, licorice and dried herbs on the nose. Smooth and pliant, with moderate sweetness and good spicy, herbal lift to the red fruit flavors. Harmonious balancing acids and a fine dusting of sweet tannins extend the fruit and give this wine an element of finesse. My favorite bottling of the current collection from Syncline, but then the winery's syrahs call for some patience.
