($75) Pale green-yellow. This unusual variety for the Wachau displays intense cassis and gooseberry aromas with elegant grapefruit and elderflower nuances. The juicy palate displays exquisite varietal definition, with herbaceous acidity giving an edginess to the flavors of grapefruit and sweet, ripe elderberry. Lemon and mineral elements linger long on the finish. A sauvignon with atypical aging potential. Drink now through 2018. (Weygandt-Metzler Importing, Unionville, PA)
