About Domaine Weinbach
Domaine Weinbach was established in 1610 by the Capuchin monks who also gave their name to the domaine's most prized vineyard, Clos des Capucins. The estate itself got the name Weinbach--which literally translates to "wine brook"--from a little stream that trickles through the property.

Origin: France
Region: Alsace
91(+?)? Points | International Wine Cellar , November/December 2010
($48) Medium straw-gold color. The nose began rather exotic and tropical, showing almost pinot gris-like notes of orange, honey, butter and spices, but then turned more limey and bright with aeration. Fat, rich and full but reticent in the mouth, showing less shape and energy today than the "regular" Cuvee Ste. Catherine. But this broad, tactile, seriously mouthfilling riesling is also less harmonious today and seems even less evolved. Weinbach's 2008 rieslings all have acidity levels of more than 9 grams per liter.
