($85; includes 2% petit verdot) Inky ruby. Sexy raspberry and cassis on the nose, with complicating notes of incense and cigar box. Densely packed red and dark fruit flavors are framed by chewy tannins and pick up a bitter chocolate quality with air. Showing its structure more than it did last year, finishing very long, with pungent dark berry flavors and lingering spiciness. Pretty serious stuff, and built for aging.
