($27) Glass-staining purple. Primary aromas of blackberry and blueberry, cracked pepper and olive. Tightly wound, tangy red and dark berry flavors are complicated by dried violet and bitter chocolate nuances, with solid tannins adding grip. The finish repeats the peppery note and clings with spicy persistence. This is a baby, and in need of patience. These wines are made by Alex MacGregor, the winemaker at Saracina. (JR)
