About Maison Chapoutier
Maison Chapoutier, the first négociant and producer to mark their bottlings with braille, was established in 1879 by Polydor Chapoutier. The business has remained family owned since then and is now run by Michel Chapoutier. His hands off approach to winemaking has lead to a resurgence in quality at Maison Chapoutier, which now produces some of the finest wines in the Rhone region of France.

($80) Medium red. Wild, pungent dark cherry and blackberry aromas, with strong tobacco and espresso accents. Deep and rich, with liqueur-like dark fruit flavors, powerful tannins and a meaty, sauvage quality building on the surprisingly sweet finish. A brooding, powerful example of the vintage and in need of cellar time.
