Let it sit after opening for 2-3 hours; pleasantly surprised! Nice complexity: sort of bold, but not too much; the finish was mid-range - not long, but long enough. FM hit it with this one!
High quality wine with a little air

Opened the bottle about 6 hours before the party, and served it along with a solid NV Cabernet. As good as the Cab was, this wine won out. After opening the wine for several hours, the richness, complexity, and finish were there. For those who gave it a lower rating and didn't open the bottle early, give it a try.

Nice, med body, soft after a while
Smells and starts great; finishes flat

I was very excited when I opened the bottle and poured it into the glass. Color was a nice deep purple-red and it had a great bouquet. The first sip was very nice on the tongue; rich, mineral notes and full bodied fruit and then... nothing. As quickly as the taste from the first sip appeared, the taste almost completely disappeared. Based on the appearance, smell and first sip, I was anticipating at least 4 stars but the flat follow-on taste dropped it to 2...

I am usually a big fan of malbec wine. This was not my favorite. I felt it lacked flavor. Maybe it was just this particular year - or maybe I have gotten too accustomed to drinking wine with ice (and I'm drinking this without ice.) It;s a little tooo heavy for me

About Argentina

Until the early 1990s, Argentina's wine industry was focused inward, as the local market's thirst was sufficient to absorb the huge quantities of everyday drinking wine produced there. But with per-capita consumption in the domestic market in sharp decline since the mid-1970s, Argentina's wine producers realized that they had to look to export markets to remain in business, and winemaking in Argentina began its transformation.

Malbec

The Malbec grape may have originated in southwest France, where it still is grown under the name Cot. However, the grape's international profile has surged not because of what's going on in France, but rather because of current trends in Argentina.
