($50; 100% monastrell on ungrafted rootstock planted in 1941 and 1942 at 2,460 feet above sea level) Deep ruby. Powerful, mineral-driven aromas of black raspberry, graphite, violet, black tea and smoky herbs. Deep, juicy and focused, offering intense mineral and dark fruit flavors, with silky tannins adding shape and structure. The mineral character gains power with air and carries through an extremely long, pure and energetic finish. (Eric Solomon Selections, Charlotte, NC)
