More About This Wine
About Elio Grasso
Rather than turning out powerful, unyielding wines from his beautiful estate in the hills behind Monforte, Elio Grasso strives for harmonious and balanced bottlings. Grasso and his family offer three complex single-vineyard Barolosr. The Vigna Chiniera and the Case Maté are made in a more traditional style, while the powerful Runcot is aged for 30 months in all new barriques. Also look for their Nebbiolo from the Langhe and the Dolcetto d'Alba.

Style: Red Wine
Grape Type: Nebbiolo
Origin: Italy
Region: Piedmont
89 Points | International Wine Cellar , November/December 2009
($24) Good full red. Cool, primary aromas of red fruits, menthol, dried rose and fresh herbs. Fruitier today than the dolcetto, offering a finer-grained texture and more pliancy. Ripe and attractive but dry and juicy too: very nebbiolo. A very fresh wine from young vines facing southeast and southwest. Finishes with suave, fine tannins and lovely persistence. This, too, is very easy to drink. Grasso recommends consuming it within the next four years.
