($55; one-third each of cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and syrah) Bright ruby. Complex scents of red- and blackcurrant, dried cherry and tobacco; this doesn't smell like a New World wine at all. Pliant cherry and dark berry flavors are firmed by dusty tannins and pick up a smoky note with air. Finishes with good grip and a persistent notes of peppery spice. This wine is named for Stephan Asseo, who was until recently also Jensen's only neighbor.
