($40; 100% mourvedre, 100% whole-cluster fermentation, and 100% new French oak) Opaque ruby. Powerful, youthfully brooding aromas of musky dark berries and cherry compote, with hints of licorice and smoked meat adding a serious quality. The palate displays fresher red fruits, along with sexy notes of candied flowers and spicecake. Picks up a peppery note on the finish, which is broad, chewy and extremely persistent.
