($18; no oak) Vivid ruby. Smoky and reduced initially, then spicy and perfumed with air, showing cherry and black raspberry aromas and a hint of cracked pepper. Juicy red and dark berry flavors are enlivened by tangy acidity, showing pepper and floral qualities reminiscent of syrah. Finishes lively and precise, with smoky floral and spice notes.
