88-90 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - January 2010

Dark ruby. Spicy cherry and dark berries on the nose, with hints of rose and violet adding complexity. Lively and focused on the palate, showing sweet raspberry and kirsch flavors and slow-building smokiness. The finish is sappy and well-defined, leaving berry skin and spice notes behind. (I found the '08 Cuvee de l'Hostellerie to be too ripe and tannic to recommend, for now.)
