Deep red. Blackberry and cherry on the nose, complicated by floral and earth notes in the background. Juicy and showing plenty of power for the vintage, with dark berry fruit flavors, a smoky nuance and a touch of anise. There's good fruit intensity and structure here, and the finish is gripping and nicely persistent. This could use a few years of bottle age. (Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA)
