($120; a 58/42 blend of cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon, from David Abreu's Madrona Ranch vineyard behind Spottswoode in St. Helena) Aromas of black cherry, violet, licorice, tobacco and cardamom. Supple and fruity for the year, with a juicy quality to the flavors of dark berries, violet, Asian spices and cedary oak. A rather claret-like midweight: according to Andy Erickson, it's the cabernet sauvignon component that contributes the roundness to this blend. Finishes firm and stylish.
