About Domaine de Chevalier
Domaine de Chevalier was relatively late to arrive on the Bordeaux wine scene. In 1865, when Arnaud and Jean Ricard acquired this small property on the outskirts of the Lande pine forest, it was in disrepair. Today, the vineyard has more than doubled in size from its original 20 acres.
2009 Domaine de Chevalier Pessac-Leognan (half bottle) (Pre-Arrival)
Producer: Domaine de Chevalier
Style: Red Wine
Grape Type: Bordeaux Blend
Origin: France
Region: Bordeaux
Appellation: Graves/Pessac-Leognan
93(+?) Points | International Wine Cellar , July/August 2012
Bright, medium ruby-red. Nuanced, expressive nose combines dark cherry, redcurrant, mocha, graphite, cedar and hot bricks. Plush on entry, then sweet but firm in the middle, with a solid mineral spine giving shape to the fine-grained dark berry and cedar flavors. This wonderfully glossy wine boasts excellent structure on the subtly long back end, with its ripe cabernet sauvignon component much more apparent today than its merlot.
