94 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - May/June 2011

(15.3% alcohol):  Inky purple.  Highly complex aromas of black raspberry, candied cherry, dried rose and pungent herbs.  Expansive, supple red and dark fruit preserve flavors show serious heft but are finely etched and braced by tangy minerality.  Quite suave and pliant, with excellent finishing cut and length.  This impeccably balanced wine is from 83-year-old vines, according to Officer, including an 11% mix of alicante bouschet, grand noir, petite sirah, peloursin, bastardo and "who knows what else."
