($20; a blend of native Portuguese varieties) Dark pink. A wild, pungent bouquet evokes tangerine, cherry pit, jasmine and smoky lees. Smells eerily like a serious white Burgundy (really!) and tastes like one too, displaying deep citrus and floral flavors and a smoky undertone. Becomes spicier with air and finishes with impressive thrust and lingering smokiness. This would be great to serve in a black glass. (Martine's Wines, Novato CA)
