($55) Bright medium red. Subdued on first sniff, then opens up to show spicy red berry and floral aromas, with an undercurrent of smoky minerals. Juicy, finely etched cherry and red berry flavors are firmed by dusty tannins, with the floral note repeating on the back end and a kiss of rhubarb adding refreshing bitterness. The lively finish features a touch of anise and good clarity and spiciness. A restrained style.
