($55) Deep, bright red. Expressive aromas of red and dark berry preserves, anise and potpourri, with a smoky overtone. Sappy and fresh, offering tightly focused, sweet black raspberry and cherry flavors complemented by candied violet, licorice and black pepper. Gains sweetness with air and finishes with very good clarity, spicy persistence, a touch of smokiness and strong tangy cut. This is quite youthful. (JR)
