Good full ruby. Dark berries and an exotic note of Christmas cake on the nose. Savory and complex on the palate, with a note of fruity peppercorn joined by mineral, saline and soil tones, all lifted by a floral element. I find more verve here than the 2007 is currently showing, as well as a suaver texture. Thomas Brown vinified 2008 here (and blended and bottled the 2007s and 2006s), following the departure of Mark Herold at the beginning of that year. Brown practices what he describes as "a more natural vinification," beginning with a fermentation that's not as hot as Herold's norm.
