About Spottswoode Vineyard
Part of the old guard in Napa Valley, Spottswoode was established in the first wave of vine planting, back in 1882. Christened by Mrs. Albert Spotts in 1910, Spottswoode is now managed by Mary Novak and her two children, Beth and Lindy. Over the past two decades, Spottswoode has been one of the most consistent Cabernet producers of California, with a track record for graceful bottle aging.

Deep straw-yellow. Ripe pineapple dominates the nose. Supple and tactile but surprisingly fresh, with strong acidity and pronounced minerality giving the wine a classically dry impression. Dense and stony sauvignon blanc. (My look at the 2010 in tank suggests an equally bracing wine that trades a bit of minerality for pungent grapefruit and floral lift.)
