About Chateau Lagrange
It was 1983 and Chateau Lagrange had been in a rut for a half century. Vintage after vintage had been smashed by critics, prices were falling, and its Third Growth status was nowhere to be seen. Then, from halfway across the world, Japanese liquor conglomerate Suntory swept away the rust--literally replacing the outdated cellar and replanting the vineyard--and got Chateau Lagrange back on its feet.
2009 Chateau Lagrange Saint Julien (in magnum)
Producer: Chateau Lagrange
Style: Red Wine
Grape Type: Bordeaux Blend
Origin: France
Region: Bordeaux
Appellation: Saint Julien
92 Points | International Wine Cellar , July/August 2012
Saturated medium ruby. Sexy aromas of cassis, licorice, menthol and cedar. Tightly wound, classic and intense, with sharply delineated flavors of dark berries, violet and minerals complemented by well-integrated oak. Dense, suave Saint-Julien wine with a very fresh, slightly austere finish. With its solid structure and excellent length, this will require at least five or six years of cellaring. A superb vintage for this property.
