($120; 80% chardonnay and 20% pinot noir; disgorged February, 2010) Light gold. Tight, primary nose hints at lemon rind, hazelnut and mint, with a slow-mounting smokiness. Broad, dry and unforthcoming, with youthfully clenched flavors of citrus fruits, underripe pineapple, yellow peach and spices. A smoky, nutty quality comes up with air and adds an exotic touch. I like this densely packed wine's ripe acidity, which bodes well for further aging.
