($25) Bright ruby. Expressive aromas of red and dark fruits, violet, tobacco and cracked pepper. Offers spicy black cherry and floral flavors, with brisk acidity adding energy and lift. Turns more tangy with air, picking up a smoky quality and finishing with very good fruity persistence. I'd give this another couple years of bottle age but there's plenty of upfront appeal now.
