Dullish red. Reticent, almost inexpressive aromas of red berries, tobacco and tar. Offers only modest sweetness to its red berry and tobacco flavors and a slight herbal bitterness. The moderately persistent finish lacks complexity but leaves a trail of spices behind. Though many Italian wine guides seem to routinely give high scores to this wine, I have never been a fan of it; there are many better examples of cannonau (grenache) made on the island.
