91 Points | International Wine Cellar , March 2011
(from 120-year-old vines): Deep ruby-red. Fascinating nose combines
crushed blackberry, pepper, licorice and violet, plus a whiff of tree
bark typical of mourvedre. At once suave and dense, with terrific depth
and creaminess to the flavors of sweet dark berries, coffee and
chocolate. This silky, highly concentrated wine tightens up on the
finish, showing palate-saturating persistence and a firm tannic spine
for further development in bottle. My sample retained its freshness and
grip for 72 hours in the recorked bottle.

One of the best wines I have received from Wine Access. Rich, and lush with a huge finish. Absolutely delicious!

For the price offered, this is an excellent wine. Nice, soft red, goes well with beef, lamb or just sipping!
Wish there was more

I have not been satisfied with some of the previous selections from Italy, but three Mataro was very impressive, especially the price.
a little flat

Dry tannins and over-ripe fruit made this akin to a soda without the fizz: flat. Disappointing after the golden review. Was better the second day after the tannins mellowed. I will decant the wine for the next bottle and hope for a better tasting.

Powerful consumer interest in California wine is driven by two major factors. The more obvious reason is that California's best wines, which come from grapes grown in...

One is mostly likely to encounter the grape in wines from the southern Rhone. Here, Mourvedre takes its place blended with...
