($115) Opaque ruby. Exotic aromas of black and blue fruits, cola, vanilla and potpourri, with a smoky quality and a touch of fruitcake. Lush, spicy blackberry and boysenberry flavors stain the palate, with notes of vanilla pastry and licorice contributing complexity. This got 200% new French oak and it shows it now. Broad and sweet on the finish, which strongly echoes the boysenberry and floral notes. This very sexy wine appears to have the depth to handle the lumber.
