About Jean Foillard
In 1980, Jean Foillard took over his father’s estate winery in Villié-Morgon, expanding and overhauling operations. Today, Foillard possesses 14 hectares of some of the finest sites in Morgon: the sandy Corcelette parcel and a large chunk of the renowned, granitic Cote de Py.
2009 Jean Foillard Morgon Cote du Py
Producer: Jean Foillard
Style: Red Wine
Grape Type: Gamay
Origin: France
Region: Burgundy
Appellation: Beaujolais
93 Points | International Wine Cellar , February 2011
Bright purple. Black raspberry, cherry, star anise and potpourri on the nose, with a touch of white pepper adding lift and spiciness. Densely packed with red and dark berry fruit but remains light on its feet, with subtle smoke and herb notes adding complexity. Packs a serious punch but comes off lithe, with excellent finishing clarity, grip and persistent spiciness.
